Mother Trucker!

Last Sunday we went to Tenaya Creek Brewery, a local craft-brewery tasting house, to sample their wares. And, outside of the tasting house was the ChowTime food truck, which we’d seen when googling. Jonty asked the bartender if the truck was serving food and, lucky for our hungry tummies, it was! If you ordered at the truck, they would bring the food directly into the tasting house for you, so after a couple of tasters, yours truly wandered over and placed an order…

Best decision ever! On the day we were sampling their food, they were serving pulled-pork and beef sliders (served with pickles, tomatoes, lettuce and caramelized onions). I ordered us two of each and less than 15 minutes later (the owner was just starting up his grill when I came to order), wewere brought the food to our table out on the patio. The food was fantastic, so fantastic, that I made JP go back and order more!

Round two offered us another pulled-pork slider each, plus an order of tater tots (with an assortment of dipping sauces, because he wasn’t sure what we might like) and two chocolate chip cookies, on the house – mmmm!

Once we finished our food and drink, we headed back out to the food cart to pay for everything, and had a little chat with the owners. They started their food truck business a few years ago and operate for a few months at a time – work when you want, rest when you want! It was refreshing to find common ground with another couple in a brief 10-minute conversation – they love food, they love working together, and they are doing exactly what makes them happy. They even sent us home with some provisions (bottles of water, orange juice, a few bags of chips to nibble on).

If you are ever in Las Vegas and are looking for great food, find these guys and enjoy the sliders and smoked BBQ!!
