Monthly Word: August 2016

Happy BC Day (a.k.a. the August Long-Weekend, a.k.a. the weekend Summer finally arrived)! Like July, we’re starting off the new month with an extra-long weekend. We’ve spent the last few days in the Okanogan, soaking up the sunshine and beach-time and family time. And, finally, the weather is starting to feel like summer! My month of SIMPLE PLEASURES has come to an end, and I’ll share July’s photo round-up in a few days time.

August’s Month of Mornings:

I’m a morning person. I haven’t always been this way, but over the last few years I’ve come to appreciate all that comes with being an early riser. Mornings are a time to get things done before the rest of the world wakes up. The world is quiet, there’s generally a calm in the air, and the people you pass are usually pretty chipper. If you’re a rock climber, it means you have your pick of the routes before the mid-morning crowd appears. If you like to run, walk or cycle, the roads aren’t filled with traffic yet. These are all good things 🙂

Do your mornings follow a certain ritual? I love, and savour, my early morning coffee, whether it’s at work or at home. The morning light is fantastic, whether it’s filtered through the blinds or shimmering off the ocean. I love cycling down to the water in the early mornings to enjoy those West Coast sunrises.

So I’m dedicating August to my month of Mornings, and it would be great to see how you spend yours! If you’d like to join in, feel free – the more the merrier! I’ll post my morning escapades on various social media places – Instagram, Google+, Facebook and Twitter,  tagging #PictaMonth and #MyMonthOfAugust and #MyMonthOfMornings
